The New Blockbuster Way of Doing Things

An interesting article from Adage, "Transforming the Movie-Rental Model: Netflix Tries Set-Top Box," asks, "what will it take to get consumers to fork over good money for entertainment when so much already is available online free? Two deals -- one already announced, one anticipated -- illustrate what content producers and distributors are considering to get couch potatoes to take the bait.... "

Basically the article talks about how consumers may be able to rent movies on thier iPods instead of going to the store or waiting for a Netflix DVD to show up at your home three days after ordering it online.

Cool idea?

Hi Whitney,

Interesting article. I've been wondering about this since my boyfriend downloaded every single season of the office...for free! Someone's definitely getting cheated out of revenue.
You're off to a good start...good luck!

Im a huge movie buff and I personally think there will be debates and issues until it is all available either online or on like your local cable or direct TV box where you can access it like an online library. Will this ever happen probably not but its neat to see all the crazy ideas that keep happening. To be honest Net Flix and Blockbuster are like the Itunes of the movie industry if it wasn't for them people would be probably DL it illegally more then that is going on now.
